SURPRISE AWARD

Nice surprise!. The American Humane Society selected me as one their “2010 Legislators of the Year.” Thanks! Turns out I was one of only 31 award recipients in the nation, and the only one from Alaska. The award was for my bill last year that strengthened laws against animal cruelty, and highlighted the link between animal cruelty to domestic violence and sexual abuse of children. Hats off also to Rep. Carl Gatto and Senator Bill Wielechowski who were a major part of getting the bill through our legislature.

I wish you'd care as much about stopping the sexual assault of women, children, and abuse victims at the hands of the TSA as much you care about stopping what takes place between a consenting owner and his dog.
