WHAT DAY IS THIS IN ALASKA?

Today, the third Monday of May, is Alaska's official "Arbor Day." Amongt the zillions of things I didn't know until recently is that the different states celebrate different Arbor Days. It depends, I reckon, on when it's prime tree planting time in the state.

When I was a kid, Arbor Day was a big deal. Nowadays, the innocent little holiday been over shadowed by the more new-age and eco-correct "Earth Day." Whatever, trees are a wonderful plus for the environment, pleasant to observe and, overall, a very good thing - if they don't blow over on your car. Without being too insensitive or "red neckish," trees also provide great building material for homes.

I've read somewhere, that there are some things everyone should do in their lifetime. One is to build a boat (I have - named it "The Boat"), and another is to plant a tree (and I have, many times). So go plant a tree.
